About David Crosby

David Crosby was born in 1941 in California to Floyd Crosby, an Academy Award-winning filmmaker. He gravitated towards music since he was a young child, remaining indifferent towards academics in school and eventually dropping out of Santa Barbara City College to pursue a full-time career as a musician.

Crosby’s amalgamation of folk and rock music as well as his distinctive style of songwriting have certainly left a mark on the music industry as a whole. One of the first hit tracks that he was involved in creating was a version by his first band The Byrds of Bob Dylan’s track “Mr. Tambourine Man”,  and the credit for the harmonies that made this version so famous went to Crosby himself.

In 1968 Crosby became a part of a second band called Crosby, Stills & Nash after getting to know Stephen Stills and Graham Nash and beginning to jam with them informally. The band received critical and commercial success from their very first album, but over the past few decades there were many altercations between Crosby and the other band members, all of whom eventually went on to focus on their solo careers.
